Trapping and Licencing; European green crab
PROGRAM
ISCBC has been working in partnership with Fisheries and
Oceans Canada (DFO) to develop a brand new eLearning course on the European green crab (Carcinus maenas). This multi-module course is broken down
into two parts:
PART 1: Module 1: Getting to Know European green crab provides a thorough background on this globally
problematic invader and its impacts in B.C. click here.
PART 2: Modules 2 and 3, the quiz and the survey, enable anyone to learn about and gain a Section 52 Scientific Collection/AIS Control Licence to take part in
community science trapping initiatives to monitor for the crab.
AUDIENCE: Anyone interested in gaining a Section 52 Scientific Collection/AIS Control Licence to take part in community science trapping initiatives to monitor for the crab.
INSTRUCTIONS: You can stop and return to your spot if necessary and you can return to the course at any time if you want to review or complete a section. Please use speakers or headphones as audio is included and disable pop-ups for the best user experience.
DURATION: This program will take 45-60 minutes to complete.
Connect with your local regional invasive species organization, community science organization, etc. to see how you can support local European green crab projects. Upon completion of the modules and passing the test you’ll be officially ready to do your part!
